1. North American Trade Excellence

Founded in 1997, North American Technician Excellence (NATE) is the nation’s largest non-profit certification organization for heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration technicians. Headquartered in Virginia, NATE is the certification organization that was developed by and has been supported by the HVAC industry for nearly 20 years.

2. HVAC Excellence

HVAC Excellence was established in 1994 to improve the technical competency of the HVAC industry through validation of the technical education process. By setting program standards and verifying that they have been met, they meet the challenges facing the industry by continuous improvement in the way they prepare technicians.

3. HVAC Service Mentor

HVAC Service Mentor provides advanced technical service training to HVAC technicians and contractors who want to uplevel their skills and take their income to the next level. Helping technicians achieve a deeper understanding of HVAC systems and their function. This enables them to be more effective, more accurate, and faster in the field.

4. AC and Heating Connect

AC & Heating Connect was established to provide timely and accurate HVAC training information, along with objective opinions and insight to consumers of air conditioning and heating equipment. They do not formally promote any particular products, solutions, companies or providers.

5. ASHRAE

ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers) advances the arts and sciences of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration to serve humanity and promote a sustainable world. With more than 57,000 members from over 132 nations, ASHRAE is a diverse organization representing building system design and industrial processes professionals around the world.

ASHRAE, founded in 1894, is a global society advancing human well-being through sustainable technology for the built environment. The Society and its members focus on building systems, energy efficiency, indoor air quality, refrigeration and sustainability within the industry.

6. Air Conditioning Contractors of America

ACCA is a non-profit association serving more than 60,000 professionals and 4,000 businesses in the indoor environment and energy services community. These members work together to promote professional contracting, energy efficiency, and healthy, comfortable indoor environments. Its roots stretch back to the early part of the 20th century.

7. Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute

The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) is the trade association representing manufacturers of HVACR and water heating equipment within the global industry.

8. Air Movement and Control Association International, Inc.

The Air Movement and Control Association International, Inc. is a nonprofit international association of the world’s manufacturers of related air system equipment.

9. Eastern Heating & Cooling Council

The Eastern Heating & Cooling Council is a nonprofit educational organization comprised of HVAC contractors, distributors, manufacturers and other trade allies. Since its formation in 1990, the Council has provided quality technical training to the HVAC community throughout the United States.

10. Partnership for Air-Conditioning, Heating, Refrigeration Accreditation

The Partnership for Air-Conditioning, Heating, Refrigeration Accreditation (PAHRA) is an independent, third party organization that is a partnership between heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) educators and the HVACR industry that will award accreditation to programs that have met and/or exceeded industry validated standards.

11. HVAC Ed

HVAC Ed has been created to be the definitive source for those looking to go into a career in HVAC, or even for those just testing the waters.

12. Women in HVACR

Women in HVACR exists to improve the lives of our members by providing professional avenues to connect with other women growing their careers in the HVACR industry. We empower women to succeed through networking opportunities, mentoring and education.

13. Conferences

Performance Alliance has an excellent list of HVAC conferences that has info and dates for conferences up to two years in advance. For example, the International Air-Conditioning, Heating, Refrigerating Exposition (AHR Expo). It started 86 years ago as a heating and ventilation show and has grown into the event of the year for the HVACR industry. In 2018, the show is in Chicago, hosting more than 2,000 exhibitors. The event crowds of 65,000 industry professionals from every state in America and 165 countries worldwide.
